Five Israelis held for transmitting satellite channels
LARNACA - Five Israeli were remanded in police custody on Friday in connection with illegally receiving and transmitting various subscription satellite channels as well as for providing electronic gambling services.
The arrests were made at a house in Oroklini after a tip off to police. Two of the five men tried to prevent the house search even when police had a warrant.
A large number of evidence, such as computers, decoders and various documents were found and confiscated at the searched house, a police spokesman said.
The five appeared before a Larnaca district court where they were remanded in custody for seven days to help police with their enquiries.
